Christianity — Overview

Entry point for all research on Yeshua's actual teachings, the Essenes, early church, and what modern Christianity inherited (and lost).

Overview

Not Christianity as an institution — but what Yeshua actually taught, who he was, and how his message got transformed in the centuries after his death.

Core questions: - What did Yeshua actually teach vs. what Paul taught? - What was the Essene connection? - What happened to the original movement? - Where does modern Christianity depart from the source?

Folders

dead-sea-scrolls/

The actual primary source documents of the Essene community. Five key scrolls curated as a collection (overview): Community Rule (1QS — the constitution), Thanksgiving Hymns (1QHa — the devotional heart), War Scroll (1QM — apocalyptic framework), Damascus Document (CD — "New Covenant" phrase, Teacher of Righteousness), and 4QMMT (the "works of the law" bombshell — the exact phrase Paul argues against). Together they give the full Essene picture: how they lived, how they prayed, what they believed, why they separated from the Temple, and the direct pipeline to Jesus's movement.

ethiopian-bible/

The Ethiopian canon — texts preserved by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church that never made it into the Western Bible. Includes 1 Enoch, Jubilees, Shepherd of Hermas, and more. These texts represent a pre-Pauline Christianity that emphasizes works, commandments, and the authority of the original Twelve.

vegetarian-pythagorean-jesus/

Research connecting Jesus's movement to the Pythagorean vegetarian tradition. The Essenes, Pythagoreans, and early Nazarenes all practiced vegetarianism, communal living, and initiation — evidence of a shared mystery school lineage.

Key Findings So Far

Jesus vs. Paul — the core tension: Yeshua taught presence, forgiveness, love, and the Kingdom of Heaven as here and now, within and among you. Paul reframed the entire message through a sacrificial/atonement lens rooted in Jewish temple theology. Modern Christianity largely follows Paul, not Yeshua.

The sacrifice framing: Yeshua never taught blood atonement. That interpretation comes from Paul applying temple sacrificial logic to the crucifixion. Even the Hebrew Bible tradition was moving away from sacrifice before Yeshua arrived.

What Yeshua actually taught: - Forgiveness (unlimited, unconditional) - Love (including enemies) - Presence (Kingdom of Heaven is within/among you — now, not future) - Surrender (not my will but thine) - The Essene path (diet, community, communion with nature)

The Essene connection: Strong evidence that Yeshua was shaped by or affiliated with the Essenes — a Jewish sect practicing vegetarianism, communal living, nature mysticism, and esoteric interpretation of Torah.

The eschatological distortion — Darby and the invention of the rapture: Most of what modern evangelicals believe about "the end times" — the rapture, the seven-year tribulation, the Antichrist as future political figure, the signs of the times — was invented by one man, John Nelson Darby, in the 1830s. None of it was taught by Jesus. None of it was believed by the early church. None of it was affirmed by the Reformers. Darby's framework was packaged into the Scofield Reference Bible (1909), institutionalized through Moody Bible Institute and Dallas Theological Seminary, and sold to 200 million people through Hal Lindsey and the Left Behind series.
